I must admit that when I first pulled my new adidas AdiZero One golf shoes out of the box, I was somewhat skeptical. Yeah, I know, me skeptical. No way, right?

Although the overwhelming majority of the reviews I had seen raved about the comfort and support of the shoe, I’m not sure why.

They just looked awfully narrow to me. I have pretty average size feet, ranging from 10.5 to 11 typically, depending on the shoe. Albeit one of the coolest looking shoes I’ve seen, the adidas Adizero Ones had me wondering if my feet would feel cramped and uncomfortable.

Well, as they say, looks can definitely be deceiving…

Put simply, this is one of the most — if not the most — comfortable golf shoes I’ve ever worn. They were that good kind of “snug” right out of the box and I can tell you that the fit and comfort only increases each time you lace them up.

I can think of no better place to test a golf shoe’s stability and traction than during early spring here in Connecticut, or land of perpetual snow and rain as I “lovingly” call it. Okay, okay… I exaggerate. There are actually a few hours of sunshine each year — typically right around the time I have yet another kid’s birthday party to go to and can’t actually get out on the course.

But that’s a subject for another day…

According to adidas, at just 9.6 ounces, the AdiZero One is 10 percent lighter than the original AdiZero Tour. These shoes are light and it actually took me a few swings on the range to “trust” just how stable a foundation and base they give you. Coming from wearing a much more traditional and heavier shoe the last couple of seasons, the Adidas didn’t disappoint and after walking 18 in the early spring muck and mud, I did notice the difference in how not only my feet felt, but how I felt overall.

The new 2014 adidas AdiZero One Golf shoe comes in a variety of colors, most of which are fairly muted.

Whether I was in the middle of the fairway (It does happen sometimes!), in a bunker, in the rough, or even on a side hill, I never felt anything but comfortable and supported in the stance the shoes provided thanks in great part to the low profile of the shoe (sneaker-like) and adidas’ new “stealth” cleats.

Finally — and probably something more important to those of us in the northern climes — the shoes stayed dry and were quick and easy to clean after a round. The “sprintskin” material adidas created seemed to actually repel the mud and water.

If you need some new shoes, definitely consider the adidas AdiZero One. I suspect you won’t be disappointed.

But, hey don’t just take my word for it. They might be endorsed PGA Tour players, by they are still wearing the shoes on the PGA Tour:
