2014 Callaway X2 Hot Driver Review

2014 Callaway X2 Hot Driver Review

New Callaway X2 Hot Driver Review: $329.99

The new Callaway X2 Hot Driver is a club aimed at players looking to add a few yards to their tee ball. It’s basically the more affordable option to the Big Bertha line Callaway is offering once again. It also comes with a more streamlined look than the TaylorMade Jetspeed line. And the price point seems to be spot-on compared to its competitors. Callaway is marketing the club as its fastest, thinnest all-titanium driver with a 10 percent larger sweet spot for more forgiveness and easier launch.

Looks (4 out of 5 stars)

The Callaway X2 Hot Driver has a sleek look, and I like the gray finish. The grip and shaft compliment the driver well. I’m deducting a point for the orange and white “racing stripes” on the top of the head. Although they are not as distracting as some other drivers (the TaylorMade R1, specifically), I would have preferred if they would have just left it with the classic Callaway arrow on the top.

Performance, Sound and Feel (5 out of 5 stars)

The Callaway X2 Hot Driver was easier to work right to left than I was anticipating. I felt like if I gave it a little extra, I was rewarded with a few more yards without sacrificing much in accuracy. The sound has a nice combination of “hot” and “solid.” callaway-x2-hot-driver_04

Final Thoughts

With the Callaway Xs Hot’s Driver’s performance and the price point being a bit lower than the other Callaway products, I would anticipate this club coming off the rack pretty quickly in stores. You get good distance, feel and an adjustable head and for $100 to $200 cheaper than some of its competitors. If I could change one thing, I would take the print off the top of the clubhead. But other than that, it’s a really solid product. If I was looking to replace my driver I would give the Callaway X2 Hot serious consideration.
