Nike VR_S Covert 2.0 Tour Driver Vs. Nike VR_S Covert Tour Driver Review

Nike VR_S Covert 2.0 Tour Driver Vs. Nike VR_S Covert Tour Driver Review

Nike VR_S Covert 2.0 Tour Driver Vs. Nike VR_S Covert Tour Driver Review

What a great upgrade over the previous year’s model, declares 2nd Swing Golf Blog PGA pro club reviewer and writer Jason Rockhold.

Nike VR_S Covert 2.0 Tour Driver

Our PGA Pro reviewer loves the 2014 Nike VR_S Covert 2.0 Tour Driver and its upgrades over the 2013 model.

The 2013 Nike VR_S Covert Tour Driver.

Nike VR_S Covert Tour Driver: $172.99

I have been waiting for the Nike VR_S Covert 2.0 Tour Driver and its evolution from the already-excellent 2013 Nike VR_S Covert Tour Driver (Pictured below.).

First off, I want to say I was excited to see the clubhead grow to a 460cc. And now that it’s here, the Nike VR_S Covert 2.0 Tour Driver is better than expected and somehow an improvement over the amazing, tech packed Nike VR_S Covert Tour Driver, the new model is refined and enhanced, as expected from a great golf club manufacturer like Nike.

Here are just some of the features put into the Nike VR_S Covert 2.0 Tour Driver:

  • Increased by 15 percent in total clubface area.
  • A 0.60-degree increase in launch angle.
  • Another 200 rpm in spin rate.

The 2014 Mitsubishi Kuro Kage Silver TiNi Shaft is integral to the Nike VR_S Covert 2.0 Tour Driver’s exclusive tech.

Looks (9 out of 10)

This driver is slicker, cleaner, prettier, bigger, faster and longer than its predecessor.

The original clubhead was 425cc and it was great to look at, however, the face on the 2014 Nike VR_S Covert 2.0 Tour Driver clubhead is now 15 percent bigger than the 2013 version. It really allows me to swing away and enjoy the forgiveness of the bigger clubhead.

In addition, with the lowering of the center of gravity, players now can get additional yardage by hitting lower on the clubface. Hit it high on the clubface, and it adds 3 yards for the middle of the clubface, tag on another 6 yards.

Performance: (10 out of 10)

The new Fly-Brace technology that was inserted into the Nike VR_S Covert 2.0 Tour Driver version has really made it a solid sound coming off the head and returns more of the power to the ball at impact.

The Nike stereotype of a loud driver has been stomped out with the Nike VR_S Covert 2.0 Tour Driver, which has an almost composite sound. It has a solid sound for a solid hit.

The amazing fact about the Nike VR_S Covert 2.0 Tour Driver is Nike’s ability to change loft and face angle while maintaining “effective loft.”

Nike golf teamed up with NASA to design FlexLoft. This scientifically designed adapter allows the golfer the ability to have 15 drivers in one. Lofts that vary from 8.5 to 12.5 degrees. and it also has open (1.5-degree), neutral, and closed (1.5-degree) settings. This allows a lot of flexibility for players to adjust the settings as their swing improves or conditions change.

Final Thoughts: (Overall: 9.75 out of 10)

This Nike VR_S Covert 2.0 Tour Driver model was formed from the 2013 Nike VR_S Covert Tour Driver prototype shape created with input from Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, a couple of pretty good players out there on Tour.

The Nike VR_S Covert 2.0 Tour Driver, designed by the top PGA Tour players, who could ask for more?
