Ping Eye 2 Lob Wedge Review and Loft
The Ping Eye 2 line was the single most successful line ever in the golf industry. The irons were made for over eight consecutive years without a replacement, something that we will never see again from the manufacturers. The irons are still popular today, but the club that has stood the test of time is the lob wedge. With it’s square grooves it produces as much spin if not more than any of the wedges produced today. With the USGA changing the groove rules for professionals in 2010 the Eye 2 line got a lot of attention because of a ruling over 18 years ago that allowed the Eye 2 line to be “grandfathered” in and legal on the PGA tour. At the start of the 2010 PGA Tour season several players, including Phil Mickelson, traded their 2010 wedges for the old Eye 2 wedges to maximize spin.
