“Increased ball speed is achieved through a hotter face without sacrificing high launch or consistency.” — PING on its 2014 G30 Fairway 3-, 5-, and 7-wood.

PING G30 Fairway Woods Here’s PING’s take on its new 2014 G30 Fairway Woods:

The clubface profile provides an “inspirational appearance,” according to PING, while increasing its height for additional face bending and forgiveness. It is engineered using Carpenter-brand 475 steel, a material 44 percent stronger than 17-4 stainless steel.

The added strength allows for a thin, uniform-thickness face for maximizing deflection to increase ball speed and distance, according to PING.

PING’s new Turbulators, or speed humps or bumps as Bubba Watson calls them, are crafted onto the crown to create a captured appearance that assists with aim and provides confidence, according to the Arizona-based company.

The PING G30 Fairway Woods offer progressive center of gravity (CG) positions to maximize distance. A low and deep CG in the 3-wood promotes high launch with optimal spin. Meanwhile, the CG progresses more forward and lower in the 5- and 7-woods to keep launch angle and spin uniquely optimized for distance and control in each clubhead.

And here’s a PING video explaining its new, supposedly more aerodynamic, wind-cutting Turbulator crown design feature for to make the clubhead swing faster:

The lightweight hosel design is engineered with the same mass and outer diameter as PING’s fixed hosels for more adjustability without sacrificing performance, according to the company. It offers five settings and up to two full degrees of loft adjustment to further optimize launch angle and spin rate.

Using PING’s “Trajectory Tuning+ Technology,” a player can choose the standard loft or fine-tune the trajectory by adding or reducing loft. The settings are standard;  plus 0.6 degree,  plus 1 degree,  minus 0.6 degree and  minus 1 degree.

A high-balance-point in the TFC 419F shaft has a CG that’s closer to the grip end. This is intended to create a simultaneous increase in energy, momentum and inertia for faster ball speeds and greater distance. The charcoal, non-glare matte finish eliminates reflections for better focus.
